Sufjan Stevens Announces New LP
Showcases "an Obsession with Cosmic Fantasies (Space, Heaven, Aliens, Love)"
The good news just keeps coming out of the Sufjan Stevens camp this month. Last week we had the surprise digital release of the All Delighted People EP and today comes information about a brand new album. The Age of Adz will street October 12 via Asthmatic Kitty. (A press releases notes that "Adz" is pronounced "odds.")
The 11-song suite showcases the classically-inclined folk songwriter's "extensive use of electronics (banjos and acoustic guitars give way to drum machines and analog synthesizers), and an obsession with cosmic fantasies (space, heaven, aliens, love), to create an explicit pop-song extravaganza, augmented by heavy orchestration, and maybe even a few danceable moments. Enjoy Your Rabbit meets the BQE." There will be no overarching concept beyond that.
More details and pre-orders can be found at A Kitty's website. Also, see Stevens' upcoming U.S. tour dates here.
