Swearin’ are releasing their first new album in five years, Fall Into the Sun, on October 5 via Merge. Previously they shared its first single, “Grow Into a Ghost” (which was an honorable mention in our Songs of the Week list), as well as “Untitled (LA).” Now they have shared another song from the album, album closer “Future Hell,” and announced some European tour dates. Check out the song and all their tour dates below.
The trio features Allison Crutchfield, Jeff Bolt, and Kyle Gilbride. They released two albums, 2012’s Swearin’ and 2013’s Surfing Strange, before breaking up in 2015. The band reformed last November.
In a press release Gilbride describes “Future Hell” as “visions of an unseen place and time, learning lessons of disenchantment from a new and hostile world. Finding a way back, friendship and independence reveal marks on the trail.”
Alabama native Allison Crutchfield is known for her previous bands P.S. Eliot and Bad Banana, both formed with her twin sister Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee. Last year she released her debut solo album, Tourist in This Town, also via Merge. In a previous press release Allison Crutchfield called Fall Into the Sun “the adult Swearin’ album.” Although, preorders of the album come with 3D glasses for some reason the press release promises will be explained later.
