Britpop and Madchester survivors The Charlatans released a new album, Different Days, last year via BMG. Now they have shared a video for a new song, “Standing Alone.” Frontman Tim Burgess says the track is “a song of defiance, apology, and smashed phones.” It’s taken from a new 4-song EP, Totally Eclipsing, which was released today. Chris Walker and Darren Groucutt directed the video, which incorporates fan footage shot at the band’s North by Northwich festival last month. Check it out below, followed by the band’s upcoming North American tour dates.

Walker had this to say about the video in a press release: “Tim Burgess tweeted that we would like anybody at North By Northwich to film anything and everything and send it in to us. Not just the band on stage, but their journey there, eating chips in the Seafarer, drinks in Salty Dog and just Northwich being amazing. The response was unbelievable, from that footage we made the ‘Standing Alone’ video. It’s a video for the fans made by the fans.”

The EP is available on green 12-inch green vinyl and digitally and is also included in a deluxe edition of Different Days.

On Record Store Day Burgess also released, I Was Now, a 10-year-old unreleased album featuring Burgess on vocals, along with an all-star lineup that includes Ladyhawke, Josh Hayward (The Horrors), Martin Duffy (Felt/ Primal Scream), Debbie Googe (My Bloody Valentine), and Steffan Halperin (The Chavs/Klaxons).
