Despite an outpouring of support from fans, and Monday's rallies in New York, Boston, and Los Angeles, things look bleak for Conan O'Brien's future at The Tonight Show. According to Deadline Hollywood the final nail in the coffin has already been placed—the only holdup being O'Brien's insistence that his staffers—particularly those who followed him out from New York—be well taken care of with severance packages. A kind gesture—however, not exactly the news every ardent member of "Team Coco" was hoping to hear.

The only silver lining—if one can call it that—is the increasingly twisted dustup has resulted in strong comedy, and perversely, strong ratings for the nearly ousted host. Current supporters include Quentin Tarantino, David Letterman, and...the Chinese.

Quentin Tarantino (a guest on The Tonight Show last night) describes a film trailer for The Late Shift 2, which includes Conan's fantasy revenge against the network that "promised him everything." (And sparked millions of fan fantasies about a different sort of Grindhouse 2.):

Jay Leno take a serious moment on The Jay Leno Show to defend himself and discuss the state of NBC:

...David Letterman blasts him for it on his show:

…and then does him one better, with a fake trailer for the "new" Tonight Show with Jay Leno:

The fight went international when Conan insulted NBC in Spanish last night:

...and Chinese animation did its best to explain the feud:

Here's the Chinese Animation in English:

Finally, on tonight's Late Show, David Letterman takes a further shot at Leno with "Jay Leno: A Look Back":
