“The Irishman” - Watch DeNiro, Pesci, and Pacino in the First Trailer for Scorsese’s New Film
Due Out This Fall in Theaters and on Netflix
Jul 31, 2019
Al Pacino
Martin Scorsese has returned to the gangster genre with The Irishman, reuniting with his Goodfellas stars Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci, and adding in The Godfather star Al Pacino (directing him for the first time). The difference between this and the auteur’s other films is that it will stream on Netflix, who produced the film, shortly after screening in theaters this fall. Now the first trailer for the film has been shared. Watch it below.
Steven Zaillian wrote the screenplay, based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt. De Niro plays Frank Sheeran, who is a labor union leader and a hitman. Pacino plays Jimmy Hoffa. The film also stars Harvey Keitel, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, and Ray Romano. In some sequences the filmmakers used de-aging special effects to make the actors appear 30 years younger. The film will premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 27.
