The National Announce New Album via Posters in Various Cities

The National have announced a new album, Sleep Well Beast, via posters that have been sited in various cities and have gone up on social media. Sleep Well Beast is due out September 8 via 4AD. The band will also be performing some shows with Daughter opening. Check out some of the social media posts below.

The National haven't released a new album since 2013's Trouble Will Find Me, although the band's members have kept busy with various side-projects. Yesterday the band shared a mysterious teaser trailer that hinted at new music and presented as a news broadcast that included the scrolling phrases "Sleep Well Beast" and "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness." Earlier today they shared another video to Instagram that was captioned "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness" and featured more new music. The band's label 4AD also shared two teasers.

This is something very unusual to see these days. Indeed, going retro is a wonderful thing and I sure people would love such ideas. The initiative taken in order to make this happen has to be appreciated.
