The National have announced a two-day live event at Forest Hills Stadium on September 29 and 30 that will features performances from the band as well as from Cat Power, Future Islands, U.S. Girls, Phoebe Bridges, Bully, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Cigarettes After Sex, and Adia Victoria. The National have teamed up with PLUS1 and will be donating $1 of every ticket sold to the Brownsville Community Culinary Center. Tickets go on sale at 10am ET this Friday, April 13th. The band have also launched a new fan club called Cherry Tree and members will have priority access to buy tickets (sign up to the fan club here).

The band's Aaron Dessner had this to say about the event in a press release: "Our show last October at Forest Hills Stadium was one of our favorite shows in the history of the band. The incredible legacy of the place and the fact that it still feels intimate even given its size, we started talking immediately about finding a way to come back for multiple nights with friends. We couldn't be happier to announce these shows in September with some of our favorite artists."

The band's website describes the fan club as such: "Cherry Tree is a community for fans of The National; a place where the band can connect directly with, and give back to each of them. Sign-up now so you don't miss out on the exciting things coming this year."

Cherry Tree costs $50 a year and will include: "Exclusive content. Exclusive and limited edition merchandise. Priority ticketing. Annual collectible vinyl."

The National released their excellent new album, Sleep Well Beast, last September via 4AD. It was our Album of the Week and #7 on our Top 100 Albums of 2017 list.

On Record Store Day (April 21) they are releasing via 4AD a new live album, Boxer (Live in Brussels). As its title suggests, it features the band performing their classic 2007 album Boxer in full in Brussels and was recorded November 9, 2017.

In December The National announced the inaugural music festival "Homecoming in Association with MusicNOW," which is curated by the band and will take place in the band's hometown of Cincinnati on April 28 and 29, 2018 (but will start the night of April 27). The National will perform two unique shows on different nights. Joining them will be Father John Misty, Julien Baker, Future Islands, Feist, The Breeders, Alvvays, Moses Sumney, Big Thief, Lord Huron, Mouse on Mars, and more, with others to still be announced. The event will be centered at two stages in the city's Smale Park, but will also encompass venues throughout the city. The National will perform each night, alongside 20 other artists. The festival will also feature "special guests, city-wide exhibitions, surprises and more." MusicNow was founded by The National's Bryce Dessner and has been going for 13 years.
