The National Subject of Upcoming Documentary
Directed by Matt Berninger's Brother

The National
Soon to release their much-anticipated fifth album this May, The National will serve as the subject of an upcoming documentary set to premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. The picture, titled Mistaken for Strangers, chronicles the band on the road following the success of their 2010 album High Violet. Serving as the film’s director was Matt Berninger’s very own brother Tom, who said in a statement “When my brother asked me along on tour as a roadie, I thought I might as well bring a camera to film the experience. What started as a pretty modest tour documentary has, over the last two and a half years, grown into something much more personal, and hopefully more entertaining.”
“I was happy to give my brother whatever access he needed,” added Matt. “I just didn’t expect this movie to include shower scenes.”
Mistaken for Strangers will open the Tribeca Film Festival on April 17.
