The Phantom Band Announce Sophomore LP
Due for Release Digitally on Chemikal Underground October 19
Aug 25, 2010 The Phantom Band
The Phantom Band’s 2009 album Checkmate Savage was an Under the Radar favorite, a captivating listen with its adroit blend of folk and Krautrock, but it seemed to capture little attention elsewhere, save a glowing endorsement from R.E.M.‘s Peter Buck. Now the Glaswegian quintet are back with their sophomore effort The Wants, due for release digitally October 19 on Chemikal Underground. The press release promises another eclectic, egalitarian, and idiosyncratic outing, with influences including David Lynch and John Carpenter soundtracks, German kosmische, Tom Waits, and the use of Teenage Fanclub’s Wurlitzer organ. Eclectic enough for you? For now, you can listen to an excerpt of “A Glamour” here, and we have the full tracklisting below.
