The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) surprise-released a new album, My Dear Melancholy, (the comma is intentional), a couple of weeks back via XO/Republic. Now he has shared a video for “Call Out My Name.” Grant Singer directed the clip, which features bats coming out of Tesfaye’s mouth and some sci-fi elements. Also soul legends The Temptations have covered The Weeknd’s “Earned It.” Listen to that below too (via Rolling Stone).
The Temptations’ only living original member is Otis Williams. “Earned It” was featured on 2014’s Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. The Temptations’ version is featured on All the Time, their new covers album out May 5 via Universal that also features covers of songs by Bruno Mars, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and others.
My Dear Melancholy, features six tracks and includes two collaborations with Gesaffelstein. The Weeknd’s last album was 2016’s Starboy.
