Third Man Records Announces Conan O’Brien 7-Inch and 12-Inch
Jack White Interviews O’Brien as a B-side
Jack White's label, Third Man Records, has released two new recordings by Conan O'Brien on the "Green Series" of their Spoken Word/Instructional records. The first 12" is a live audience recording of O'Brien and his band playing classic rockabilly jams, joined by a duet with White performing "20 Flight Rock." That was recorded when O'Brien stopped by Third Man's Nashville headquarters during his Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television tour.
The second is a 7", titled "And They Call Me Mad?," that features O'Brien's perspectives on the Frankenstein tale (or "Conan's hilarious improvised take on the Frankenstein legend" as the Third Man website says). The B-side features an interview conducted by White. 150 limited edition Tri-color 45s of the 7" are to be released early next week. 100 of them are being sold for $100, with all proceeds going to ReTune Nashville, an organization aimed at providing relief for uninsured musicians. Fifty of the limited edition copies will be randomly sent out to people who buy the regular version.
