Tom Morello’s Fiery Response to Paul Ryan

"I don't care for Paul Ryan's sound or his lyrics."

Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello has penned a fiery response on RollingStone.com to news that Rage is one of Republican running-mate Paul Ryan’s favorite acts.

True to the band’s steadfast confrontational style and political activism, Morello’s response carves a deep and wide chasm between Paul Ryan and the band, stating, “Don’t mistake me, I clearly see that Ryan has a whole lotta ‘rage’ in him: A rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment.”

Though Paul has stated he doesn’t care for the lyrics, Morello points out, “Perhaps Paul Ryan was moshing when he should have been listening.”

Morello:

“I wonder what Ryan’s favorite Rage song is? Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of ‘Fuck the Police’? Or is it the one where we call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!”

This poignant response comes a day after Silversun Pickups handed the Romney campaign a cease and desist for using their music without permission.

Yet another distinct line drawn in the sand between influential and politicially-conscious musicians and polictians on the right.
