After delivering an Oscar-winning score for David Fincher’s The Social Network, Trent Reznor and Atticus Finch’s forthcoming soundtrack to the American film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo certainly has an element of anticipation behind it. Today, specifics of the duo’s new work were announced on the Nine Inch Nails website with a statement by Reznor, describing the results as “some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers.” At the moment you can pre-order the 39-track spanning record on iTunes, and immediately get your hands on that really cool cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” featuring vocals by Karen O (streaming below). Other options include regular and HD digital downloads on Dec. 9, a three-disc CD released Dec. 27, and a deluxe package that will ship Feb. 6 that features six LPs, a book, a fold-out poster, and a USB drive shaped like a razor blade signed by Reznor and Ross. To get an even bigger preview, you can even head over to the Null Corporation website, and in exchange for an email address, download a six-song sampler. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo hits theaters Dec. 21.
