Twilight: New Moon Soundtrack Listing Confirmed
Features Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, The Killers, St. Vincent, Bon Iver and Lykke Li
The official soundtrack for 2008's Twilight wasn't much to sniff about (kind of like the movie). Only a few scant cuts from blood letters Paramore and Linkin Park littered the tracklisting. Conversely, the marketing blitz for Twilight sequel New Moon has been nothing short of buzz-worthy and downright confusing. The final tracklisting was announced today on Myspace and writer Stephanie Meyer's website and it's just as ripe for hipsterdom's cognitive dissonance as we surmised. The indie name-checking compilation includes what looks like new material from Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, Lykke Li, The Killers, Muse and a duet between Bon Iver and St. Vincent, called called "Rosyln." Whoa...
Thanks to the lovely bitch goddess of 'marketing,' teenage girls with lipstick-marked posters of sparkly vampires will flood your nearest indie rock concert. The full New Moon soundtrack listing is below.
The soundtrack is out October 20th on Chop Shop/Atlantic. (via Pitchfork)

I am very miffed to hear this. First, Twilight had to ruin some previously good Muse songs by association, and now this one has to kill Grizzly Bear and Lykke Li, among others, for me. Damn the “lovely bitch goddess of marketing”. Nicely put.

if you care about the music rather than how it makes you look, then maybe they would be fair comments.

Your right, this isnt what the target audience would maybe listen to. You know thats a good thing, im an older fan and I love lots of types of music, its not a way of identifying yourself like many younger people think, music is a form of expression, and its great that the movie might open young minds up to different music tastes. That idea that people have to pigeon-hole themselves into a “type” of music i.e. rock, pop, dance, jazz etc is really sad, and to cap it there has to be a uniform and attitude to go with each kind. Ive been to jazz, rock and pop concerts and festivals and i LOVE music, you shouldnt have to choose a category to place yourself in. everyone can identify with differnet people and find common ground if they try.
