Last night Against Me! performed in Durham, North Carolina. Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace is one of the most high profile transgender musicians. There’s been a lot of attention lately on North Carolina’s discriminatory anti-LGBTQ House Bill 2, which puts into law that transgender people have to use the public restroom of the gender on their birth certificate, rather than the gender they now identify themselves as. In response to this, Grace burned her birth certificate on stage and said “Goodbye, gender.” Watch fan video of the protest below, as captured by Twitter user @kwymer6.
