Watch Björk, The Breeders, LUMP, and Gwenno Perform on “Later… with Jools Holland”
Björk's First TV Performance in 8 Years; Plus Manic Street Preachers
Björk released a new album, Utopia, last year via One Little Indian. Earlier tonight she appeared on the long running BBC music show Later... with Jools Holland, where various musicians take turns in the round, performing in a TV studio in front of a live audience. She performed Utopia's "Courtship" and "The Anchor Song" from 1993's Debut. Also performing on the show were The Breeders, and LUMP (a new band that teams up Laura Marling and Tunng's Mike Lindsay). And last week's show featured Gwenno (full name Gwenno Saunders) and Manic Street Preachers. Below, watch videos of it all.
Björk's backing band included a flute section and they all wore elaborate costumes, with the singer in a mask. The Breeders performed "Wait in the Car" from their recent album All Nerve and classic 1993 track "Cannonball." LUMP did "Curse of the Contemporary" from their self-titled debut album, due out June 1 via Dead Oceans. Then last week Gwenno performed "Tir Ha Mor" (from her sophomore album, Le Kov, which came out in March on Heavenly) and fellow Welsh musicians Manic Street Preachers did "International Blue" (from their recent album Resistance Is Futile) and 1996's "A Design For Life."
