Watch: Carrie Brownstein, J Mascis, Aimee Mann, and others Send Off Fred Armisen On “SNL”
Perform Original Song "It's a Lovely Day"
May 20, 2013
Carrie Brownstein
This past weekend the season finale of Saturday Night Live saw the departure of Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, two of the show’s most entertaining, veteran performerers. While Hader was given his own unique send-off taking on the guise of his beloved character, Stefon, Armisen said goodbye a bit differently, playing an original song called “It’s a Lovely Day” as his recently invented English punk character Ian Rubbish. Joined by Hader and fellow SNL cast members Jason Sudeikis and Taran Killam, Armisen brought on a number of surprise guests that included his Portlandia co-star Carrie Brownstein, Dinosaur Jr. J Mascis, Aimee Mann, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Michael Penn, and the Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones.
