British art-pop quartet Dutch Uncles released a new album, Big Balloon, a couple of weeks back via Memphis Industries. Previously the band shared the album’s first single (and title track), “Big Balloon,” as well as a video for the song, and two other tracks, “Oh Yeah” and “Streetlight.” Now they have shared a video for “Oh Yeah.” Nick Middleton directed the clip. The whole thing is set at a roller rink and features some fantastic roller skating and dancing from frontman Duncan Wallis. The members of the band Stealing Sheep also show up, dressed in pink bomber jackets. Watch the purely fun video below, followed by the band’s U.K. tour dates.

Wallis had this to say about the video in a press release: “Yeah, I used to be a skater boy. But like most other fruit-booters I didn’t have the patience to learn boarding or BMXing, so skating became my thing. I gave up soon after because I refused to wear a helmet but didn’t want to destroy my quite frankly beautiful face or brains), but when Nick suggested a bit of 4-on-4, I couldn’t wait to tear shit up. Practicing was a little odd. At 4pm on a Wednesday in a roller rink, you find yourself the only person over 10 years old working on some sweet glides, so I didn’t have much time as to not arouse suspicion.”

Director Middleton added: “Duncan’s dancing style has always been a large part of the Dutch Uncles live experience. He’s got a pretty unique way of dancing and I wanted to just let him do his thing. The track is all about reaching an ‘emotional zero’ and finding something that sustains you beyond that, the beginning of something new. I showed that with Duncan alone in the rink at the beginning, and Stealing Sheep arriving in their pink bomber jackets intrigued and joining in. Eventually everyone joins in and lots of money is thrown around in slow motion, with everyone grabbing for it like at the end of [the British game show] The Crystal Maze.”

The album is the follow-up to 2015’s excellent O Shudder. A previous press release said the band took “musical inspiration from Kate Bush’s The Red Shoes, Low-era David Bowie, some other slightly-less fashionable records belonging to their dads, and the eastern European techno discovered by [composer and bass player Robin] Richards while working in Ukraine this year.”
