Watch: EL VY (The National and Menomena) - “Need a Friend” Lyric Video
Return to the Moon Due Out This Friday via 4AD
The National's frontman Matt Berninger has teamed up with former Menomena member Brent Knopf (who also records as Ramona Falls) for the new project EL VY. The duo will be releasing their debut album as EL VY, Return to the Moon, this Friday (October 30) via 4AD. Today they have shared another single for it, "Need a Friend," via its lyric video.
Like the band's previous lyric videos for "Return to the Moon (Political Song for Didi Bloome to Sing, With Crescendo)," "I'm the Man to Be," and "Paul Is Alive," it's more of a full on video with the lyrics added on top. The black & white clip was directed by Matt's brother Tom Berninger, who made The National documentary Mistaken for Strangers. The video mixes performance footage with clips of Berninger and Knopf hanging out and riding bikes by the beach. Check it out below, followed by the band's upcoming tour dates.
