Explosions in the Sky
The music of Explosions in the Sky just seems tailor made for video. Strangely enough it’s because of this sentiment that the instrumental Texas band refrained from making videos for their songs. In an recent interview with the Huffington Post drummer Chris Hrasky says, ““We avoided videos for years and years and I think a lot of the reason was because we liked the idea of people creating videos or movies in their heads.
Lifting the embargo with last year’s Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, the group has unveiled its latest visual accompaniment with a music video for “Postcard From 1952.” Directed by Peter Simonite (a cinematographer on Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life) and Annie Gunn, the 7-minute clip slows precious moments to a frame-by-frame crawl, capturing the fleeting experience’s of a child’s frist steps, a birthday, a Christmas morning, and turning them all into fragile, floating soap bubbles.
