Father John Misty (aka Josh Tillman) is no stranger to political commentary and he has now shared a brief video to Twitter that features him eating pizza (perhaps a reference to the Pizzagate conspiracy theory) and singing a short song about James Comey, the FBI Director who was fired by President Donald Trump last night. Comey was mounting an investigation into the Trump administration’s ties to Russia, so the timing of his firing is considered suspect by many. The song features the lines: “James Comey was fired in the month of May/James Comey was fired from the CIA/ Well, he had Hillary’s emails/And there was a recipe, recipe for risotto.” Tillman then explained on Twitter that “CIA rhymes.” Watch it below.

Father John Misty also just performed “Things It Would Have Been Helpful to Know Before the Revolution” for the Canadian radio show Q, on CBC. He sang while playing the drums. Watch video of that below too.

Father John Misty released a new 75-minute long album, Pure Comedy, last month via Sub Pop worldwide (except in Europe, where it’s a Bella Union release). The album is the follow-up to Father John Misty’s excellent 2015-released sophomore album, I Love You, Honeybear. I Love You, Honeybear, was Under the Radar’s #1 album of 2015. Consequently, Father John Misty was on the cover of our Best of 2015 print issue and you can read that cover story article here. Also read our earlier 2015 print article on Father John Misty and our earlier 2015 bonus Q&A with Tillman (also read our 2012 interview with him).
