Watch Meryl Streep Perform Song Written by Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice in “Ricki and the Flash”
Ricki and the Flash Due Out August 6
Jul 23, 2015
Jenny Lewis
Jenny Lewis and her longtime boyfriend/Jenny & Johnny collaborator Johnathan Rice have written music for films before, including the Anne Hathaway starrer Song One, which they had a cameo in and which also featured live performances from Sharon Van Etten and Dan Deacon. Well now they have written music for Hathaway’s Devil Wears Prada costar and forever Oscar nominee Meryl Streep and her new movie Ricki and the Flash. In it Streep plays an aging rock star who tries to reconnect with her ex-husband (played by Kevin Kline) and her estranged daughter (played by her real-life daughter Mamie Gummer). The film is due out August 6 and was directed by Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) and written by Diablo Cody (Juno). In the below clip you can watch Streep perform “Cold One,” a song written especially for her to sing in the film by Lewis and Rice. Watch the clip below, via Yahoo! Movies and Pitchfork, followed by the film’s trailer.
