Spotlight chronicles The Boston Globe's 2002 Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalism that exposed the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal, uncovering both that some priests had been abusing children for decades and that the church tried to cover it up. It stars Michael Keaton fresh off his acclaimed Oscar-nominated role in Birdman, along with Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, Brian d'Arcy James, and John Slattery, all as Boston Globe reporters and editors. Stanley Tucci and Billy Crudup also star. Thomas McCarthy directed the movie and co-wrote the script with Josh Singer.

Spotlight is out in select theaters November 6 via Open Road, before expanding November 13 and going wide November 20. Now the first trailer has been released. Watching Michael Keaton back in the newsroom brings to mind his underrated/under-scene 1994 film The Paper. Check out the trailer below.
