The only thing more traumatic for an animal lover than seeing an dog or cat in need of a home, is turning the channel on your television and hearing Sarah Mclachlan's "Angel" as a bunch of footage is shown advocating against animal cruelty. Taking a much more less guilt-ridden tact is Neko Case. In an effort to help end the killing of cats and dogs in our nation's animal shelters, Case has posted a friendly PSA supporting Best Friends Animal Society. For every web site that re-posts and every supporter who shares this PSA on their social profiles, Case and her label Anti- have promised that they will make a $5 donation to Best Friends.
"Best Friends Animal Society was one of the very first organizations to challenge the idea that killing animals in shelters was acceptable," says Case in a statement. "When they began, 17 million animals died every year in shelters. For nearly 30 years, Best Friends has been building life-saving programs, reducing the number of animals entering shelters and helping more and more find homes. Today, thanks to caring people like you, that number is down to 4 million. Now it's time to Save Them All. Join Best Friends and me in this fight."
