New Album Out this November

Today, Florence and the Machine unleashed a new track called “What the Water Gave Me”—one of 13 songs to appear on the forthcoming album. (It’s still unnamed, but expect it to street November 7 in the U.K. and sometime later in November in the U.S.) An oversized tune filled with (among other things) swelling choral arrangements, and harp, it’s an excellent showcase for Florence Welch’s oversized voice.
Of the lyrics, Welch told NME that they’re, in part, inspired by a painting by Frida Kahlo, saying, “At lot of the time when I’m writing, things will just appear. I was writing the song and this book on symbolism was lying around, and it had the painting in it. It’s nice to mix the ordinary with extraordinary.”
Hear the new song, and get a behind the scenes peak at recording process (and Welch’s fashion choices) below.
