Watch Patrick Wolf Unleash His Inner Thespian in “Damaris” Video

Feat. West End Actress Gwendoline Christie (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus)

In our Spring Issue interview with the symphonic-pop provocateur Patrick Wolf, the South London singer-songwriter mentioned his name was batted around for the role of The Mad Hatter in Tim Burton/Disney's Alice in Wonderland. Though he found himself not fit for the role ("I might have looked the part, but why would you pick somebody who had never even gotten into a school play?"), he's dusting off his ol' acting chops in the new pastoral video for The Bachelor's third single, "Damaris."

The sweeping ballad finds Wolf kissing his pouty co-star, actress Gwendoline Christie. They emote all over the screen and Wolf shoots some pretty literal visual interpretations of the fiery romance between Damaris and Lewis, shot on location at Blackdown, West Sussex.

Wolf's YouTube channel notes that you can "currently see Christie playing Holly Go Lightly's glamorous neighbour in the hit West End production of Breakfast at Tiffany's, and also in the Terry Gilliam film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." The "Damaris" single will be released on December 14th, in both vinyl and digital formats.

The beautiful clip below was directed by Wolf and cinematography was handled by Rory Broadfoot. (Maybe Wolf should re-think his original stance on an acting career?) In other Patrick Wolf news, he's set to lecture at Oxford Union.

Trivia: "Damaris" was genesis came from Wolf tracing his father's heritage and unearthing a family full of blacksmiths and ferret catchers. Sounds just as rustic as the video. (via Stereogum)
