Watch: Petite Noir - “La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful” Video
La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful Out Now via Domino
Petite Noir (aka half-Congolese, half-Angolan, Cape Town-residing artist Yannick Ilunga) released his debut album, La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful, last month via Domino. Now he has shared the video for the album's title track, which features rapper Baloji. Alan Del Rio Ortiz directed the stylish and futuristic clip, which was produced in conjunction with Urban Outfitters and their UM Music Video Series.
Rochelle Nembhard, the video's creative director and a regular Petite Noir collaborator, had this to say about the video in a press release: "With this video, I wanted to play on the manipulation of space - what it means to us in a world of design, technology and architecture, and how the spirit functions in relation to all these different virtual 'realities.' Noirwave is constantly stepping into new spaces and breaking down the conceptions of what those spaces mean and represent."
