St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) released her new album, MASSEDUCTION, back in October via Loma Vista. Last night she stopped by The Daily Show with Trevor Noah to be interviewed by Noah about the album and its cover art. She then closed out the show performing an acoustic version of “Los Ageless,” just her and a guitar (which is a change from her recent elaborate TV performances). Watch the interview and performance below.

St. Vincent previously shared MASSEDUCTION track “New York” (it was our #1 Song of the Week), as well as a colorful video for the song. She also shared another song from it, “Los Ageless” (which was also our #1 Song of the Week), as well as a vibrant video for “Los Ageless” in which Clark got plastic surgery. She also stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform “New York” on the broadcast show and “Los Ageless” as a web-exclusive. Then she shared the song “Pills,” which tackles our culture’s over-reliance on medications and features vocals from Cara Delevingne and Jenny Lewis and saxophone from Kamasi Washington. Plus there was a video for “Pills.”

St. Vincent also stopped by the BBC music show Later… with Jools Holland to perform “New York” clad in a leopard print body suit and accompanied only by a pianist wearing a shiny red Mexican wrestler mask (and also covered Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”). We also shared a Japanese bonus track, “政権腐敗,” which is pronounced “seiken fuhai” and translates to “Power Corrupts.” Plus she covered The Clash’s “London Calling” for BBC Radio 1. She also performed “Los Ageless” on Ellen. She also performed “Slow Disco” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in a fake church set, with a string section sitting in pews in front of her.

St. Vincent she was also the musical guest on the BBC late night talk show The Graham Norton Show where she performed “Los Ageless,” playing her guitar and dressed like she was a stylish member of The X-Men, while backing dancers with guitars moved in silhouette on the other side of a screen behind Clark. She then moved to the couch to be interviewed by Norton about the guitar she designed and her album cover. Also on the couch were the cast members of Murder on the Orient Express (director/star Kenneth Branagh, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dame Judi Dench, and Josh Gad) and Depp and Gad joked about MASSEDUCTION‘S album cover.

Clark co-produced the album with Jack Antonoff, which was mainly recorded at Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan, with additional recording at Rough Consumer Studio in Brooklyn and Compound Fracture in Los Angeles. The album was announced via a slightly strange and awkward Facebook live press conference (she revealed that she secretly hates musicals).
