Watch: The Avalanches - “Subways” Video
Wildflower Out Now via Astralwerks/Modular/EMI/XL
Wildflower, the long awaited follow-up to Since I Left You, the acclaimed 2001 debut album by Australia's The Avalanches, was finally released in July via Astralwerks/Modular/EMI/XL. Now the band have shared a fun and trippy animated video for "Subways." French illustrators Mrzyk & Moriceau are behind the clip, which shows an alternate version of the New York subway system that features animals, walking fruit, and other weird and wonderful characters. Watch below.
Previously we were treated to the video for "Frank Sinatra," a song featuring Danny Brown, and the audio for "Colours," which features the vocals of Mercury Rev's Jonathan Donahue. Wildflower also features Father John Misty, Toro Y Moi, Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux, Camp Lo, Biz Markie, and Warren Ellis of The Bad Seeds/Dirty Three. Wildflower is one of the most talked about delayed albums of the last 15 years and at various points it seemed like the album might be finally coming. The band even gave us an in-the-studio quote about it for our "Most Anticipated Albums of 2004" issue. Jens Lekman and Connan Mockasin also both recorded with the band over the years, but their contributions didn't make the final mix.
