Watch the First Trailer for Edgar Wright’s New Film “Baby Driver”
Movie Starring Ansel Elgort, Jo Hamm, Lily James, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx Due Out August 11
Mar 13, 2017
Ansel Elgort
Film director Edgar Wright has pretty a pretty flawless track record. There were the three films he directed that he co-wrote with actor/writers Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), as well as comic book adaptation Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. All were critically acclaimed and had strong cult followings. The only bump in his career has been Ant-Man, which he co-wrote and was slated to direct until very publically leaving the project over creative differences with Marvel. This summer he’s returning with Baby Driver, the first film he’s written on his own, without a collaborator, and which he also directs. The film centers on a young music-obsessed getaway driver named Baby (played by Ansel Elgort, who is also playing a young Han Solo in next year’s Star Wars prequel). Lily James (Cinderella) costars as a waitress and love interest and various notable actors play bank robbers and crime bosses (including Kevin Spacey, Jon Bernthal, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, and Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers). Sky Ferreira also plays Baby’s mom (presumably in flashbacks) and Meryl Streep is listed in the cast for an unclear role. The film just premiered at SXSW to rave reviews and is due out August 11 via Tri-Star. Watch both the domestic and international trailers below.
