Stephin Merritt’s The Magnetic Fields recently released a new album, 50 Song Memoir, via Nonesuch. It’s a five-disc album that features a different song for every year that he’s been alive. Now he has shared a video for the song that tackles 1985, “‘85 Why Am I Not a Teenager.” It’s the year Merritt turned 20 and the song is about facing adulthood and the realization that childhood dreams may not come true. Alexander Petrowsky directed the clip, which features retro animation akin to industrial revolution artwork or Monty Python cartoons. Watch it below.
