Star Wars: The Last Jedi is due out December 15 via Disney. It’s only two months until its release, but we haven’t been privy to much footage, beyond a first teaser trailer way back in April. But now the second trailer for the film (and really the first full trailer) has been released. Watch it below.
There was a long wait between 1983’s Return of the Jedi and 1999’s disappointing prequel Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, but these days we get a new Star Wars movie every year and the first two, 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2016’s prequel Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, were both pretty darn good. This December 15 we get the follow-up to The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The new trailer heavily features Daisy Ridley’s Rey, as she wields a light saber and tries to get Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker (who only appeared in the last scene of The Force Awakens) to train her. John Boyega’s Finn, Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron, and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren are all also featured, as is Carrie Fischer’s Princess Leia. This was the final film Fischer worked on prior to her death in late December (she finished all her filming for The Last Jedi, although she was supposed to appear in the follow-up to The Last Jedi, scheduled for release in 2019). Rian Johnson (Looper) writes and directs.
