Not too long ago James Mercer and the current backing line-up of The Shins participating in a Funny or Die sketch extolling the benefits of a product called Clapping Butter, which greatly improved Mercer’s handclapping ability while in the studio. Recently visiting BBC Radio 1, The Shins took things to the next logical step by writing a full on song based on the blue goo’s catchy commercial jingle.
