Watch: The Strokes - “Threat of Joy” Video
Future Present Past EP Out Now via Cult
Jun 28, 2016
The Strokes
The Strokes recently released the Future Present Past EP via Cult. It contains three new songs and one remix. Now the band has shared a video for “Threat of Joy.” It starts out like a video for another song from the EP, “OBLIVIUS,” but then the picture gets all wonky, the feds show up, and this message flashes up on the screen: “Due to circumstances we are not at liberty to discuss, we are unable to present the music video for ‘OBLIVIUS.’ Instead, please enjoy a special presentation of the Strokes in…‘Threat of Joy.’” Throughout the rest of the video the police and government agents search for the missing footage from the apparently too political “OBLIVIUS” video while the band performs “Threat of Joy.” Then the swat team comes to take Julian Casablancas away. Watch the Warren Fu-directed video below via Noisey, who premiered it.
