Watch: The War on Drugs Perform “Red Eyes” and “Under the Pressure” on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”

Yesterday in a strange cultural mash-up, The War on Drugs performed "Red Eyes" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, making their daytime television debut. Despite the less than rock 'n' roll setting, Adam Granduciel and band rocked it out and even got a hug from Ellen at the end, after which she announced that the whole audience was going home with a copy of Lost in the Dream (Under the Radar's #1 album of 2014, by the way).

The band also stuck around to do a web-exclusive performance of epic album-opener "Under the Pressure," per Ellen's personal request apparently. Although curiously, they played a shorter four-and-a-half-minute version of the song, rather than the full near-nine-minute version found on the album, despite it only being a performance for the web. I guess Ellen's audience can only handle so much awesome saxophone infused rock from Philly. Still, hopefully some in the studio audience will enjoy the greatness of Lost in the Dream on their drive home (or sometime later) and kudos to Ellen for exposing a more mainstream audience to the band.

Check out "Red Eyes" below and head over to Ellen's site for the "Under the Pressure" performance.
