Friday Night Out Now via Merge

Will Butler from Arcade Fire released his debut solo album, Policy, last March, and put out a live album, Friday Night, back in June, both via Merge. Friday Night contains five songs from Policy, two songs he wrote for The Guardian newspaper last year, and five new songs. Now he has shared a video for one of the new songs, title track “Friday Night.” In it Butler and his wife and young son jump forward to the future, to when the parents are gray-haired and the son is an angry teenager. Comedian Jo Firestone directed the clip, which you can watch below.
Firestone had this to say about the video: “I’m a big fan of Will. His album is incredible. He’s so talented, and on top of that he’s nice - and he’s so talented that he really doesn’t have to be nice at all. I’m certainly not worthy to make music videos for him, but we tried our best.”
Most of Friday Night was recorded at Lincoln Hall in Chicago on June 4, 2015. The vinyl version of the album is due out September 9.
