Waxahatchee (aka Katie Crutchfield) released a new album, Out in the Storm, a couple of weeks back via Merge. It was our Album of the Week. Now she has shared a dreamy video for “Recite Remorse” and announced some November tour dates. Ricardo Rivera directed the video, which features Crutchfield singing the song in a room filled with shimmering lights. Watch it below, followed by all her tour dates.

Rivera had this to say about the video in a press release: “I am a video installation artist first and foremost, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to create an interpretive installation. I created an immersive space with layered translucent fabric and video projections and filmed Katie Crutchfield reacting to those elements. Optical layering of imagery onto the fabric and onto Katie created a video effect similar to many music videos of the ‘90s, but done in practical way. Dreamy vibes for a dreamy song.”

Pick up our current print issue (the Summer 2017 Issue) to read our The End interview with Waxahatchee where she answers our questions about endings and death.

Previously Waxahatchee shared a video for Out of the Storm‘s first single, “Silver.” She also shared a demo for “Silver” via the “Our First 100 Days” anti-Donald Trump project and the album’s rocking opening track, “Never Been Wrong.”

Out in the Storm was recorded in December 2016 at Philadelphia’s Miner Street Recordings with producer/mixer/engineer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth). Katie Crutchfield’s band for this album was sister Allison Crutchfield on keyboards and percussion, Katherine Simonetti on bass, and Ashley Arnwine on drums; with Katie Harkin, touring guitarist with Sleater-Kinney, also contributing lead guitar. The band recorded most of the album live, resulting in what a previous press release said is “one of Waxahatchee’s most guitar-driven releases to date.”
