Yeah Yeah Yeahs Reveal Details of New Album
Mosquito Out April 16
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have finally filled in a few of the blanks concerning their recently announced fourth studio album.
The follow-up to their 2009 album It's Blitz! the new record will be called Mosquito come out April 16 through Interscope, and features production work by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio and Nick Launay. LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy also produced a track on the album.
In an interview with Pitchfork frontwoman Karen O says of the recording process, "There were dark times. So whenever we'd go into our studio space, we would just try and play music that was as uplifting and cheerful. The music is more of a prescription for what we were feeling. It was like a pep talk. And it's extremely lo-fi. We had a shitty drum machine, a shitty sampled keyboard, tons of delay on the vocals. There's a real tone, character, and style to it. And it's probably some of the most tongue-and-cheek stuff that we've done in a while."
