YouTube to Stream Outside Lands
Set Your Errr...Tubes This Friday (Aug. 28th)
YouTube, along with Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Productions and Starr Hill Presents, announced today that San Francisco's Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, will be the first event of its kind ever streamed on the video sharing site. YouTube's coverage of the festival, beginning Friday the 28th and running through Sunday the 30th, will include performances by Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Incubus, Ween, The National, The Dead Weather, Black Eyed Peas, Tom Jones, M.I.A., among others (i.e. - recently announced replacement headliner, Tenacious D). The live stream will be located here throughout the weekend.
It's an intriguing venture for a site that historically hasn’t participated in too many livestream events. Looks like they're trying to cut into Hulu and UStream's bulging profits. YouTube will also archive selected performances and highlights from the broadcast, should you go outisde (heh) during the broadcast. Hip hip horray for Web 2.0!
