Nick Attfield's book doesn't just cover Dinosaur Jr.'s 1987 full-length, You're Living All Over Me. The adroit author also touches on the Deep Wound era and the reunion tours after Beyond and Farm. The author is a music lecturer at Worcester College, University of Oxford, and he knows his music critque. He also realizes that picking apart Dinosaur's abstract lyrics is a lost cause. Despite this, he submits a valiant effort that paints a picture of indie-rock early years. The 132-page book beautifully covers the true spirit of Dinosaur Jr.: their energetic live show.

Attfield's various thoughts on Dinosaur shows are the true highlights in this 33 1/3 entry. Added bonuses: Attfield scored interviews with the band members and the band submitted a separate foreword to the pocket-sized book. Attfield's writing isn't particularly eloquent, but he gets the information out there in a coherent fashion. Pick this one up only if you're a Dinosaur Jr. fanatic. The book's release is perfect timing since DJ recently re-released three classic albums on vinyl. Read an excerpt at Fanzine. (www.33third.blogspot.com)
