On its sophomore album, this Swedish six-piece demonstrates its knack for presenting pessimistic sentiment in optimistic musical wrapping. Much of the subject matter revolves around love, its loss, and the little details of being in a relationship. “You Are Blind” is a driving, propulsive love song about someone missing signals from a paramour. “All the Little Things That You Do” is a synth- and guitar-led track about the small annoyances of a partner, featuring the choice line: “I just wanted to levitate up in the sky just to get rid of you.” “I See a Brightness” is an über-catchy tune based around the give and take of a male and female arguing about their relationship. And the title track is a comparatively depressing-sounding song about loss of love, featuring the line: “I never thought something could hurt more than a dislocated limb, but this hurts more.” Even with the most depressing subjects (“My Stop” even deals with suicide), the comic relief is never far behind (see: “living is not an option but I guess suicide is worse”). At times, tongue may be firmly planted in cheek, but it all makes for a well-rounded, pleasurable listen. (www.lacrosse.nu)
