A gynecologist (Julianne Moore) suspects that her husband (Liam Neeson), a suave music professor, is cheating on her, so she pays a young escort (Amanda Seyfried) to test his fidelity. Sounds rational and plausible, right?

Chloe is a remake of the underwhelming 2003 French film Nathalie, which starred Fanny Ardant, Gérard Depardieu, and Emmanuelle Béart as the temptress for hire. It's mystifying that a cast as accomplished as Chloe's would commit to such outlandish source material, especially considering the lackluster latest output from director Atom Egoyan and screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson. Countering her fresh-faced image as the title character, Seyfried seems at ease with the film's sexual candidness, but Moore has the thankless task of playing an undersexed, paranoid mom who's grown insecure about aging.

The best that can be said of Chloe is that it's visually dazzlingfrom the snowy Toronto streets to Chloe's winter chic ensemblesand cinematographer Paul Sarossy works wonders with windowed and mirrored upscale interiors. (www.chloefilm.com)
