“Die Slow,” the first single from HEALTH’s forthcoming sophomore full-length Get Color, takes the best elements of the band’s debut and their DISCO remix album and delivers a very rare delicacy: a highly danceable rock anthem. The lyrics are buried just below the surface of the mix, allowing listeners to give themselves over to the steady beat and stadium dynamics. Who knew percussive digital distortion and searing guitars could be so sexy? It’s the musical equivalent of an American Apparel print ad. I see a lot of sweaty teens in sweatshirts going crazy in dark clubs over this one. And, if this is a sign of things to come, I see those crowds just getting bigger and bigger.

The B-side PICTUREPLANE REMIX of the same track successfully reworks the song constricting the beat with congas, but doesn’t outshine the original. Check out both. (www.lpurecords.com)
