Although it received the lion's share of music game hype, The Beatles: Rock Band is not the only big-name rhythm title around. Guitar Hero started this trend and has debuted its latest. Guitar Hero 5 is another worthy entry in the most senior series, but the game really doesn't bring anything particularly new to the table except a more flexible Party Mode, which allows the player to change difficulties and add or drop other players on the fly. What you're really getting is 85 new songs by 83 artists and well-known playable avatars. If you're reading this, you'll likely skip the tracks by AFI, Bush, Bon Jovi, and Blink 182 and will move to Band of Horses, Blur ("Song 2"-it's about time!), Elliott Smith, Gorillaz, My Morning Jacket, Screaming Trees, The Duke Spirit, Vampire Weekend, and more. The game's notable for finally securing Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," but is notorious for allowing you to play such drivel as 3 Doors Down with Kurt Cobain singing along on screen. There are a lot of tracks and there is decent variety, but the game could still use an influx of girl power and more funk. At least Shirley Manson shows up to remind us that Garbage used to put out catchy songs like "Only Happy When It Rains." Still waiting for some Prince songs, though. (www.guitarhero.com)

It’s by far the best music game since GH2. And trooplet, i’m glad they took out the money system because now yo don’t have to play 500 song to earn enough money for one guitar or character.
