Once More with Feeling… EP
Constellation
Jan 13, 2015 Ought
Ought‘s new EP is appropriately titled, given it begins with perhaps their most emotional song yet. Even when “Pill” ascends into a wild heaven of chaos, it remains one of their most easygoing and evocative tracks. “New Calm Pt. 2” begins with Tim Beeler admitting “I love this one” and it’s easy to see why. His talk-singing is in top form throughout, harkening back to Mark E. Smith’s rants and David Byrne’s sermons of days gone by. Though the EP wanders a bit through the clunky turbulence of “New Calm Pt. 3,” it makes a safe landing with “Waiting.” (www.cstrecords.com/ought/)
