Punch-Out!!
Wii/Next Level

Punch-Out!! is back and on the Nintendo Wii, and after being out of the ring for 15 years, it’s better than ever! Little Mac is ready to rumble against all those international stereotypes you remember so fondly. You’re going to need to dust off the old strategies of dodging, blocking, and face- and gut- punching to make your way to the title bout. But don’t get too comfortable; the characters have some new moves that keep you guessing. The controls have made a seamless transition to the Wii, giving you the choice between classic button-mashing and boxing with the remote and nunchuk. They’ve also made it possible to play using the Wii Fit Balance Board so you can incorporate ducking and dodging into your repetoire, but it’s twitchy at best.
The game has plenty of replay value with an Exposition mode that gives you specific mini-game challenges against your opponent. The only drawbacks are the underwhelming multiplayer function that sets two Macs against each other (hardly improving the game) and no online content. But the flaws for Punch-Out!! are so minor, they’re completely overshadowed by the game’s charm and fun factor; you can’t help but smile playing it. (www.punchout.nintendo.com)
