Dark Red

Apr 29, 2015
Issue #53 - April/May 2015 - Tame Impala
The album format has proved a tricky one for Shlohmo. His longer mixes are where he shines, and though distinct tracks provide him shorter spaces with which to experiment, Dark Red has a hard time hanging together. If one wasn't reminded that it's the work of one person, it would be easy to think of Dark Red as a compilation. While this is impressive in some respects (and the fantastic "Buried" and "Apathy" aside), too much here feels incomplete. (www.shlohmo.com)
