Asthmatic Kitty/Joyful Noise
May 02, 2014 Sisyphus
Formerly known as s/s/s, and comprised of Sufjan Stevens, Son Lux, and Serengeti, Sisyphus’ eponymous debut was commissioned by the Walker Art Center and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s Liquid Music series to pair with a retrospective of artist Jim Hodges.
The trio worked on the album while immersed in Hodges’ work-keeping prints nearby and loosely referencing titles, drawing on his art. The finished product is a compelling, atmospheric electro-reflection that playfully blends the three musicians’ styles. Pairs well with modern art. (www.sisyphusmusic.com)
