Skillet have been around so long it is hard to know which phase their career is in. Having outgrown the insular Christian rock scene and finding themselves sharing stages with some of the titans of their genre, the band emerge with more positive, hard, and heavy anthems of hope. The problem facing John Cooper and his experienced team is how to keep it fresh. Here they try and do it with processed drums on "Legendary" and an incredibly bright mix, which renders songs such as "Save Me" and "Rise Up" perfect for radio play but lacking the bite and aggression which would truly make them noteworthy. It's hard to please everyone. Fans will love it, and the breadth of the album will undoubtedly win them new fans on tour. (
