…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead

What was the low point of 2006 for you?

The low point of 2006 was the other twelve months when we weren’t in Austria and Moscow.

What are your hopes and plans for 2007?

I want 2007 to be the year when things start to get better for everyone.

What was the best album released in 2006 that few people heard?

I don’t know. Only a few people heard it and I was not among them.

With the rise of MySpace and the ever-increasing presence of bloggers, what is your feeling about using the Internet as a promotional tool? Will MySpace last and are you actively involved in your band’s MySpace page? With the music blogs seen as an increasingly influential source for breaking new artists, do you read them and are they a positive influence that bypasses the industry machinery or just empty hype?

It seems to be getting the job done, wouldn’t you agree? Well, I’ll keep using it as long as it's fun. I use my own page more than the band’s. Trying to define what blogs are is like trying to define our mail. Some of it is personal and some of it is people trying to sell you something. We filter them with judgment and intelligence.

If the world were ending in 24 hours, what would you do in those 24 hours?

What ever it is I did, I think I’d like to keep it to myself and maybe one other person.

Be honest: Did you watch any episodes of Rock Star: Supernova?

No. And to drive the point home, I just bought the first season of Rome on DVD.

In 2006, what was the best movie you saw, book you read, and/or TV show you watched?

I really liked Cars and I can’t remember if I read Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything in 2006 or 2005, but it still carries over. My favorite new show was Les Stroud’s Survivorman on the Discovery Channel, but I also really dug Medici: Godfathers of the Renaissance that showed on PBS.

Do you have any other thoughts about the current state of the world or the state of the music industry?

Believe me, I have more than my share, but I’ll keep them to myself until I have the power to affect real change.
